Middle School Beach Party

For those of us with a northern hemisphere orientation, February seems like an odd month to organise a beach party. But for those from the south, or indeed, those near the equator, it's the perfect time of year to celebrate the sun. The Bingham Annual Middle School Beach Party is the highlight of the year for many students in grades 6, 7 and 8. As usual, a swimming pool was constructed from hay bales, lined with a tarpaulin and filled with water. A log was balanced across the pool, the BBQ was lit and the music amped. The sun shone down and intrepid staff and students braved the log for pugilistic battles, regularly ending with both competitors falling into the cold water below. Sponges were thrown, favoured teachers dunked and a good time had by all. Many thanks to Miss Ingram and her team for organising such a fantastic event. Thanks also to the workers who built and filled the pool!
