LEARNING SUPPORT

The Bingham Learning Support Department uses the “Response to Intervention” (RTI) model, where most students are provided with differentiated academic instruction in the general classroom (Tiers 1 & 2). Our Learning Support Specialists work with classroom teachers to ensure that classroom and testing accommodations are provided for students who require them.

Where necessary, students with mild learning difficulties or ESL needs are given additional support through small group or individual sessions with Learning Support Specialists. During these sessions, we focus on personalised needs in learning or executive functioning, and encourage students to advocate for themselves if they require more accommodations in the classroom. We also work with the Student Wellness Department and parents to ensure students are provided with holistic support throughout their academic journey at Bingham.

While we hope to support and meet the needs of all students within our community, the department currently does not have consistent capacity and resources to support students with moderate or severe learning differences.
