Elementary School
The Bingham Academy Elementary school consists of KG1, KG2 and Grades 1–5.
KG1 uses the British-based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum.
From KG2 – Grade 5 the Cambridge International Primary Curriculum is used for core subjects of English, Mathematics, and Science and supplemented in the other key areas.
All students in the Elementary school will have the following subjects per week: PSSHE, English, Mathematics, Science/Social Studies, Physical Education, Library, Music, IT and Art. Grades 1 – 5 will also receive Amharic lessons – Ethiopia’s national language.
Progression tests are scheduled for Grades 2 - 5. However, Grade 5 students will also complete Checkpoint exams. These exams are provided by Cambridge International and are given during class time in term 4.
KG1 and KG2 have their own playground and outdoor space.
There is also a wonderful elementary playground for Grade 1's and 2's and a mini rope course for Grade 3's and 4's.
Chapel sessions take place once a week. During these sessions, on a monthly basis, 'Thinking Heart' Award Certificates are handed out to students in Grade 1 through 5, who demonstrate one or more of the 'End Student Outcome' characteristics that glorify God: Integrity, Curiosity, Reflection, Collaboration, Resilience, and/or Creativity. Nominations are made by either teachers or other students.
